Abstract – Postpartum acquired A hemophilia
Postpartum acquired A hemophilia is a rare, but life-threatening hemoragic disorder caused by the presence of autoantibodies against the coagulation factor VIII, and represents a severe complication of pregnancy.
We present the case of a secundipara of 24 years old, who at 3 days postpartum presents a massive vaginal bleeding, which requires a hemostasis hysterectomy. Laboratory investigations show a prolonged APTT with normal PT, as well as the other investigations.The control of the bleeding was unsucessful with medical therapy (blood transfusion, plasma, recombinant activated factor VII, factor VIII, cyclophosphamide, corticoids), and the patient died in the 11th day postpartum.
